Helping to tackle climate change

Congratulations to Rahyan Ali, whose Day 10 artwork has been shortlisted for the Southwark Council Climate Change Art Competition. Winning entries will be celebrated at the launch of Southwark’s Annual Public Health Report 2019.

This year’s report considers the impact of climate change on health and wellbeing. And will help stimulate discussion and contribute to the Council’s Climate Change Strategy.

Southwark have also run workshops with local schools, including the UAE, A video voiced by Kemi Babatunde & Mahdi Mawjee in Year 7 has been used by Southwark Council to launch the report. The video will be shared on the council’s website and social media and contains artwork produced by other students in Year 7.

Kemi and Mahdi met Kevin Andrew Fenton FFPH, Director of Health and Wellbeing at Public Health England and were the first to put their hands up and answer questions in a room full of people showing fantastic confidence and ambition; they were brilliant ambassadors for the school!

The video features artwork from the following students in year 7: Jay-Teale Simpson-Davies, Rayhan Ali, Elame Eneso-Etame and Khalid Senusi.
